David Paton MP – Member for Ngadjuri

David Paton MP is the One Nation Member for Ngadjuri, elected to the South Australian House of Assembly with a strong commitment to local communities, responsible government, and protecting the character of regional South Australia.

A devoted family man, David is the father of a 22-year-old daughter and a 17-year-old son. He says his family life keeps him grounded and acutely aware of the pressures facing younger generations — from challenges within the education system to the growing difficulty of buying a first home.

“At the kitchen table, you see very clearly how hard everyday life has become,” David says. “Young people are doing everything right, but the system is stacked against them.”

Before entering State Parliament, David served on the Adelaide Plains Council, where he was elected in 2022 and later appointed Deputy Mayor. He also fulfilled the role of Acting Mayor, working closely with other local government leaders across the region. Now 55, with a 23-year marriage and a long-standing business partnership with his wife, David brings extensive experience in business, family life, and local government to his role.

As the Member for Ngadjuri, David is focused on ensuring regional voices are heard in Parliament and that local communities receive the support they deserve.

“Too often, governments focus on what I call the ‘concrete North’ while ignoring the real North — the farming, regional, and semi-rural communities that feed and support this state,” he says.

He is a strong advocate for protecting the culture, character, and way of life of regional South Australia, particularly as metropolitan growth continues to expand outward.

“We are fortunate to live in what many would call God’s country,” David says. “Growth must be managed properly, or we risk losing what makes this region special.”

David has consistently pushed for responsible spending and greater transparency in government. Drawing on his experience in local government, he understands the pressures faced by councils and ratepayers alike.

“Rising costs, increasing state government influence, and ratepayer fatigue are issues everywhere,” he says. “People want value for money and transparency — and they deserve it.”

He believes the cost-of-living crisis is fundamentally linked to the cost of government and is committed to advocating for better financial management on behalf of his constituents.

“Government spending has consequences,” David says. “Every dollar wasted is a dollar taken from families and businesses. I will fight for every dollar on behalf of the people of Ngadjuri.”

David Paton MP represents One Nation’s commitment to giving regional communities a stronger voice and ensuring government works for the people — not the other way around.
