Alex Banks, Light
One Nation candidate Alex Banks is standing for the electorate of Light with a strong commitment to family, hard work, and practical policies that support everyday Australians.
Alex, 39, has been married for 14 years and is the proud father of two children — a 13-year-old son and an 11-year-old daughter. He says his family life has shaped his belief that strong families are the foundation of a strong country.
Alex has worked in the construction industry for more than 22 years, running his own business and delivering both domestic and commercial building projects. His hands-on experience has given him a clear understanding of the pressures faced by small business owners, tradies, and working families.
“I’ve spent my working life building things from the ground up,” Alex says. “I know what it means to work hard, meet deadlines, and take responsibility for the outcome.”
Alex is also actively involved in his local community, volunteering with local football and netball clubs, where he has helped coach the sports his children participate in. He says grassroots sport plays a vital role in building strong communities and instilling values such as teamwork and responsibility.
Alex decided to stand for the electorate of Light because he believes hardworking Australians deserve to be heard and respected.
“I’m passionate about seeing common-sense policies implemented locally, at the state level, and federally,” he says. “Government should work for families, not against them.”
Lowering the cost of living and improving accountability in government spending are key priorities for Alex.
“Keeping more money in the pockets of everyday Australians is essential,” he says. “That starts with responsible government and policies that recognise the importance of the family unit.”
Alex says representing the people of Light would be a great honour.
“I want to get to know the community, listen to what matters to them, and be a strong voice for their needs,” he says. “Public service should be about serving people, not politics.”
I’ve spent my working life building things from the ground up, I know what it means to work hard, meet deadlines, and take responsibility for the outcome.
